FERRARI FF All in one

As revolutions go, the FF is a complete reinvention of everything that Ferrari stands for. For starters, there's the name. FF stands for Ferrari Four, which refers to the four-seater cabin and four-wheel-drive running gear.
Officially, the car is designed to take the lucky few from home to the snow-covered roads of Europe’s top ski resorts – but behind this lies Ferrari’s desire to grow in markets such as China, India and Russia, where big cars are big business.
Inside, the cabin is equally impressive. As you open the door for the first time, it's the quality you notice first. The rear seats will just about hold an adult, but most of the space in the back is reserved for the vast 450-litre boot.
The interior of the FF is done up with all the cues of other modern Ferrari models, including a driver-centric cabin layout and control interface, two-tone finishes, and, of course, fine leathers and metal trim. The steering wheel is free of stalks and levers, with turn signals instead operated as buttons from the steering wheel and a small manettino lever, controlling drive modes, on the steering wheel.

The FF has the best cabin space and occupant comfort in the segment, thanks to four generous body-hugging seats that ensure each of the FF’s four occupants will enjoy the same standards of ride comfort and access to the on-board equipment.
The boot size is unprecedented for this kind of car: 450 litres. However, it is also extremely versatile as both rear seats can fold down separately, upping its volume to over 800 litres.
This means, for example, that four occupants can take four standard-size trolley cases, two golf bags or two children’s strollers with them.
The central section of the rear seat can also be folded down to accommodate particularly bulky items such as a large golf bag or two pairs of skis. In other words, four people can go away in the FF for a long weekend break in complete comfort.

By simply folding down one or both of the rear seats, however, luggage space and versatility increases and two occupants could easily enjoy a month-long road trip in the car. In its two-seater configuration, the FF can be used to stow any kind of hobby or leisure activity equipment imaginable, including two full sets of diving gear or sailing kits, for instance.
This really is the most accommodating car one could desire – the front seats comfortably accommodate taller occupants up to and over 1.95 cm (just under 6 ft 4.7 in.) and up to 185 cm (6 ft 1 in.) in the rear. And they’ll be as comfortable as in their own lounge.
In terms of driver appeal, soft leathers, brushed alloy trim, and bright red detailing on the instrument panel ensure the cockpit is every bit as inviting as one of Ferrari’s famous mid-engined coupés – albeit for very different reasons. However, if the space, design and comfort on offer in the interior suggests luxury and refinement on a previously unimagined scale, then think again.
At the heart of the FF is the new seven-speed, semi-automatic, four-wheel drive transmission. It was patented by Ferrari seven years ago, and it’s taken the firm that long to develop it into a system that's does the Italian firm's sporting pedigree justice.

Though the oversized front grille, elongated headlights and wagon-like roofline might take some getting used to, the FF's every-day usability is unrivaled amid exotic performance machines. It features enough space for four six-footers to sit in comfort, and there's a relatively large 16 cubic feet of cargo room. Fold down the rear seats, and that number expands to 28 cubes.
A new V-12 engine based on the 599/Enzo architecture gets direct fuel injection (enabling a compression bump to 12.3:1) and a 2-mm bore increase. Displacement jumps to 6262 cc, friction
reductions, a reed-valve system in the dry-sump oiling system that cuts windage losses, and improved combustion control due to ion-sensing of in-cylinder exhaust after each ignition cycle combine to boost output to 651 horsepower at 8000 rpm and 504 pound-feet at 6000 rpm. And with an optional HELE system -- that stands for high emotion/low emissions and includes auto start/stop, low-consumption fuel pump, radiator-fan motors, A/C compressor, etc. -- the FF also gets 25 percent better fuel economy.

THE 4RM IS AN ENTIRELY NEW SYSTEM THAT TRANSMITS TORQUE TO ALL FOUR WHEELS OF THE CAR. A FERRARI PATENT, IT IS THE MAIN INNOVATION SPORTED BY THE NEW FF.
